Why Choose Us?
We understand that as caregivers, you always want to make sure you’re making the best choices to support your child. Here are some of the reasons you might select PDC as your choice for your child’s therapy:
- Empowering parents is paramount to our core values. Making sure that parents feel educated and supported is the foundation for everything we do. You, as parents and caregivers, know your kids best, and we make it our mission to support you in all that you do for your kids. This includes comprehensive parent education right from your child’s initial evaluation, regular and thorough communication with caregivers about your child’s therapy and their progress, and ongoing recommendations and resources for home carryover. We also love connecting families with other community resources to help parents get the support they need.
- We love what we do, and you’re going to feel that when you walk into our building and see the genuine enjoyment and joy that our staff feel from helping families. From your first encounter with our front desk staff over the phone to your child’s weekly therapy sessions, we think you’ll be able to see and feel how much our staff truly loves the work that they do.
- PDC has an incredibly comprehensive evaluation process. We pride ourselves in offering the highest quality of evaluation to make sure we’re getting a true picture of everything that might be going on with your child. Our goal in our evaluations is to ensure that every caregiver leaving an evaluation feels a renewed sense of hope that PDC can help support their child and their family, and even that they may understand their child in new ways after their evaluation with us.
- PDC has a unique focus and expertise in sensory integration. Sensory integration is how the brain takes in and processes information from our senses, like sight, sound, touch, and movement, so we can respond appropriately to what’s happening around us. For kids, when their brains have trouble organizing this information, they may have difficulty with everyday tasks, like paying attention, playing, or staying calm. Through sensory integration, we help children practice and develop the skills they need to feel more comfortable and in control, so they can better participate in activities at home, school, and play.
- Starting in January of 2024, PDC now offers two locations to better serve the communities of Southern Maine. Our Westbrook clinic is located in downtown Westbrook, and our Saco clinic is located in an easy-to-access building shared with other community experts in children’s health and wellness. We love being able to help even more families by opening this second location!

- Peer-based activities: Because we have so many therapists on our staff, this makes us uniquely poised to offer peer-based activities during therapy sessions. While your child has their own dedicated therapist who is focused on helping your child meet their personalized goals, whenever possible we encourage peer-based interactions through shared games or activities, as kids often learn best through interactions with their peers. Our after-school hours especially are vibrant, fun times where we collaborate with groups of children to play group games, do obstacle courses, or engage in problem-solving activities. We find that our kids really value and look forward to these activities with their peers. There’s no end to the creativity our therapists have in coming up with unique peer-based activities to help children meet their goals in fun ways! You might find us playing Gaga Ball, Rock Paper Scissors Evolution, Night at the Museum, Scooter Board Hockey, and so many more! We pride ourselves in creating new games for children to play that address their goals, so sometimes you might find us playing a game you’ve never heard of before because our creative therapists created that brand-new game!
